Sourdough has ‘risen’ in popularity in recent years and transformed the pizza scene. We’re not saying that regular, yeast based pizzas aren’t delicious (they are!) but sourdough has something different about it. Because the lactic acid in sourdough pizza is low glycemic, it means that sourdough pizza is converted to blood glucose more slowly. It is much easier to digest and has been linked to a healthy gut. The lengthy fermentation process of making sourdough releases nutrients including iron, zinc, magnesium, antioxidants, folic acid and other B vitamins.
Storage: Sourdough Pizza base are freshly baked without any additives, it is advisable to consume the same day or store in the fridge after delivery. If you haven’t used the Sourdough pizza base within 3 days, freeze it so the doesn’t dry out.
Preparation: Sauce and top each pizza as you like, but don’t add cheese yet. Bake pizzas for 10 minutes before removing from the oven and adding cheese. Return to the oven and bake for 5 to 7 minutes more, until the cheese is melted. Remove the pizza from the oven and enjoy hot. Remember to top it up with our Jumbo Green Olives.
